Independent Psychiatric Evaluations for Veterans
Palm Beach Psychiatry provides independent, one-time psychiatric evaluations for Veterans seeking professional assessment related to VA disability claims and for organizations coordinating VA disability examinations.

Evaluations are provided by Eli Nader, MD, a Harvard-trained, triple board-certified psychiatrist with extensive experience evaluating and treating Veterans within the VA healthcare system.

Independent psychiatric evaluations for Veterans
VA disability mental health evaluations
Mental Health Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), when appropriate
PTSD and other service-related psychiatric assessments
Review of relevant medical, military, and psychiatric records
Independent medical opinions and nexus opinions, when clinically supportable
Evaluation of psychiatric conditions potentially related to medical conditions, medications, chronic pain, substance use, or other service-connected conditions
What to Expect

Veterans may request an independent psychiatric evaluation related to a VA disability claim. Before scheduling, our office will confirm the type of evaluation needed and any records or documentation that should be provided.

Palm Beach Psychiatry is available for contract-based psychiatric disability examinations, including C&P and Medical Disability Examination (MDE) services. Contractors may contact our office regarding credentialing, scheduling availability, geographic coverage, and examiner requirements.

Relevant medical, psychiatric, military, and VA records may be reviewed as part of the evaluation. When clinically appropriate, the assessment may include completion of a Mental Health DBQ or an independent medical or nexus opinion.

These appointments are designed as one-time independent evaluations. They do not require ongoing psychiatric treatment, medication management, or routine follow-up with Palm Beach Psychiatry. All opinions are based on the clinical evaluation, available records, and independent medical judgment.

Extensive VA & Veteran Experience
Dr. Nader has substantial firsthand experience working with Veterans and within the Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare system.
During his Harvard psychiatry residency training, Dr. Nader completed significant clinical rotations at both the VA Boston Healthcare System's Brockton and West Roxbury campuses in Massachusetts. His VA experience formed an important part of his psychiatric training and included extensive clinical work with Veterans presenting with a broad range of psychiatric, medical-psychiatric, substance-use, and service-related conditions.
